Dates for the 2014 ET4Online Symposium: April 9-11, 2014. Starting in 2013, the Symposium has been held on spring dates rather than mid-summer. Mark April 9-11 on your 2014 calendar for the upcoming ET4Online Symposium in Dallas.

The Emerging Technologies Symposium is devoted to the emerging and innovative uses of technology designed to improve teaching and learning online. The conference focuses on the technologies that drive online learning effectiveness, highlighting research, applications and best practices of important emerging technological tools. We encourage submissions related to instruction, networking, assessment, open educational resources, new media and support services.

Who Should Attend

This conference, which will provide the latest information on emerging technology applications for online learning, is geared to both experienced professionals and interested newcomers to online learning who hail from a variety of work sectors, including higher education, continuing education, business, government, health care, professional associations, and nonprofit organizations.

Attendee Demographics

The symposium brings together individuals interested in the technological aspects of online learning. Experts, intermediate users and novices are welcome to participate in Symposium activities that will include face-to-face and virtual components. The Symposium is geared to experienced professionals and interested newcomers to online learning alike.

Symposium attendance at the 2013 symposium located in Las Vegas, NV attracted over 875 onsite and 800 virtual attendees from over 550 institutions, 46 states & territories, and 21 countries representing college level faculty and administrators, instructional technology professionals and instructional designers.

Conference Location

All presentations and  workshops will be held at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel .  The vibrant urban location in the downtown arts and financial district is just minutes from the Dallas Convention Center, One Arts Plaza, AT&T Performing Arts Center, the Cotton Bowl Stadium, and Victory Park, home of the American Airlines Center.

Onsite Attendees:

  • Watch the Conference Commons Training video. This is an important step to understanding how to access all uploaded materials pre-conference and recorded sessions post-conference.
  • Download the Sloan-C Conference mobile app from the Program page. This will provide you full session descriptions. The printed Schedule-at-a-Glance that you will be provided onsite does not include session descriptions.
  • Make your hotel reservations.
  • Plan to attend the free Friday afternoon Unconference session. 
  • Join in the conversation – follow the ET4Online Symposium Social networking. Join us on Facebook, Twitter (@et4online and #et4online) and Linkedin.
  • Let your colleagues know you are attending the conference. Download an electronic badge for use in your email signature or on your website.
  • Review the program schedule prior to departure for Dallas; plan how you will use your time at the conference.
  • Familiarize yourself with our keynote speaker and our two plenary sessions and the topics of the addresses.
