Learn how three faculty from different institutions use podcasts, eBooks, online courses, and Google+ Hangouts to reinvent "faculty development" into a community of learning.

Extended Abstract

How are today's free, collaborative, rich media technologies transforming the way institutions are thinking about faculty development? And how are faculty outside of the institutional framework using these tools to reinvent their teaching on their own? What opportunities and challenges do these shifts hold for the future of the scholarship of teaching and learning?

In this presentation, Jason Rhode of Northern Illinois University, David Wicks of Seattle Pacific University, and Michelle Pacansky-Brock of Mt. San Jacinto College and the California Community College Chancellor's Office will demonstrate how they are blending podcasts on iTunes, eBooks, web conferencing, online courses, and Google+ Hangouts to craft inclusive faculty learning models that support the diverse needs of 21st century instructors.

Lead Presenter

Faculty development specialist, author of "Best Practices in Teaching with Emerging Technologies," online educator.
