Blue Canary will demonstrate practical examples of how to extract value from institutional data

Extended Abstract

The concept of analytics in education promises significant value derived from troves of institutional data. However, the promises often lack specifics as to what the value is and how it can be derived. Blue Canary is an analytics firm that focuses on the practical implementation of solutions that convert data into value for both the student and the institution.

In this session. Blue Canary will demonstrate different data solutions that we have built. The applications include:

- A student retention solution that uses SIS and LMS data to identify at-risk students
- An application for browsing end of course survey comments
- A set of reports that analyzed over 400 research papers and distilled them into topics and concepts

The goal of this session is to take the mystery out of data & analytics to show institutions what kinds of problems can be solved with data.
