Come hear how FLVS is helping districts in Florida provide a facelift to their student learning communities by implementing blended learning.

Extended Abstract

By participating in an actual makeover session, participants will be able to leave with life applications for implementing best practices and lessons learned from Florida Virtual School's (FLVS) makeover and overhaul of their virtual learning labs and blended learning communities in several districts throughout the state of Florida.

Hear from the makeup artists (blended learning specialists) themselves as they share different approaches toward blended learning and as they detail where FLVS has been, where FLVS is currently, and where FLVS is headed. Learn how to reinvent your program or continue its evolutionary track by monitoring efficacies and revising inefficiencies, or meeting challenges head-on.

Lead Presenter

From a very early age, Liz Chico wanted to positively impact the lives of young people, and teaching became the profession for making the greatest difference. For Liz, making a difference means being a mentor and a facilitator of learning. Therefore, in 2001, Liz began teaching as a Language Arts teacher at Osceola High School in Kissimmee, Florida where she was chosen as Teacher of the Year in 2007. She joined Florida Virtual School's full time instructional team in 2008. Presently, she utilizes her passion for education as the Team Lead for the Blended Learning Specialist Team at FLVS.
