Abstract

The OLC Advanced Online Certificate Program helps educators fine tune existing distance learning courses using the OLC Pillars of Quality in Online Education.

Extended Abstract

Jumpstart The Advanced Online Teaching Certificate Program

During this onsite, optional pre-conference workshop, participants will have the opportunity to:

  • develop a robust learning community with peers
  • begin to complete some of the program requirements in a supportive, collaborative, hands-on environment

Post-conference, the Advanced Online Teaching Certificate program includes a three-week asynchronous foundational course where participants will:

  • complete a course evaluation
  • develop a course revision plan
  • connect with peers for ongoing support

In addition, three follow-up synchronous (live) sessions allow participants to:

  • explore active learning activities and strategies
  • enhance their existing course with multimedia or social media
  • apply common accessibility standards
  • develop specific assessment tools for measuring course learning outcomes
  • align course elements to meet accreditation expectations

The Advanced Online Teaching Certificate Program concludes with a final presentation of each participant's revised course for peer review.

*This workshop is only for participants in the Advanced Online Teaching Certificate program. It is not open for general conference attendees.
