This message is a deep dive into Insight Analytics—hindsight work (e.g., data mining) and foresight work (e.g., predictive modeling) brought together to gain insight into student success patterns. These insights can then power Action Analytics, when these data and analyses are used in apps that go directly to the front lines of learning: faculty, advisors, and students. Brought together, insight and action analytics strategies can help struggling students succeed and strong students take their learning to the next level in on-ground, online, and blending modalities.
Side note: this speech is vendor neutral and full of diverse practice models from the field.

This plenary critically reflects on the fickle dance between teaching and technology in promoting better educational outcomes. It challenges educators to go beyond shadow dancing, the relative safety of line dancing and the popular appeal of flash mobs. The inconvenient truth is that we still need to design and choreograph more creative, flexible and personalized forms of blended teaching and learning for today’s increasingly diverse and geographically dispersed learners. There is no one dance! The key to student success is selecting the most appropriate dance rhythm for particular learners and teaching the right moves and techniques at the right times. This point is illustrated through a comprehensive conceptual framework for student success across the study lifecycle, which aims to better exploit the affordances between 21st century pedagogies and new digital technologies. Finally, a transformative agenda of blended education for change in new times is outlined as we endeavor to teach people to successfully dance towards the future so they can tackle many of the big issues facing the world.

Blended learning has emerged as a model of effective teaching for students, outperforming both traditional and fully online approaches. However, blended classrooms are not always accessible to all students because of design shortcoming that do not address the diversity of student learning needs. While there have been significant strides in improving physical access to online and face-to-face content, tools and strategies that support cognitive access and communication access are not commonly used. This session will provide an overview of e-Tools and pedagogical practices grounded in Universal Design for Instruction that can be used to support all students in the blended classroom.
