Extended Abstract

When scientists embark on a mission to provide free educational materials on a global scale, video becomes the most critical piece, especially with the Global Educational Outreach for Science Engineering and Technology (GEOSET) initiative.

Dr. Steve Acquah will share the strategy employed by GEOSET for achieving sustainable collaborations using Mediasite as well as:

Lead Presenter

Dr. Steve Acquah is an Associate Research Professor of Chemistry and Director of GEOSET at Florida State University. He moved to Florida with Sir Harold Kroto almost ten years ago to lead Professor Kroto’s research group on fullerenes. He has created new technologies for carbon nanotube based devices including solar cells, flexible paper-thin batteries, hydrogen sensors and materials that generate electricity from movement. His is a Chartered Chemist, Chartered Scientist, and listed at one of the ‘175 Faces of Chemistry’ both past and present that have helped shape chemistry and science as a whole. He also designed, and supervised the construction of the latest GEOSET studio facility at Florida State University, inviting his fellow ‘Sci Foo Camp’ alum Bill Nye ‘the science guy’ to officially open it. Steve is also a classical trained violinist and has played on occasions at the Royal Albert Hall.
