Extended Abstract

After this session, participants should be able:
1) To develop a successful staged implementation of new tools for courses;
2) To identify the best timing to engage faculty in new technology.

Lots of tools for course design/ communication are available for blended courses. Strategic use of tools has been proven to be helpful in promoting student learning and retention rate. Students repeatedly express needs for more technology to enhance interactions. We will address faculty's concerns regarding of adoption new technology. Specifically, how much time is needed to learn and deploy new technology, and how to work smarter instead of working harder with new technology.

This conference session will discuss and help administrators and faculty developers look at this issue from different standpoints, face and find strategies and solutions to solve challenges for faculty, and encourage faculty to be willing to learn and adopt new technology.

We will apply insights from teaching and learning to address key challenges for faculty.

We will engage audience through participation in the following discussions:

- For existing courses, what motivate faculty to make changes?
- What is the Return of Investment of spending extra time to make changes?
- How much time does faculty need on making changes?
- How to make it easy for faculty to use new skills?
- How to make it easy for faculty to maintain it?
- How to work smarter instead of work harder?
- What are the best timings to engage faculty in new technology?
