Abstract

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) publishes the internationally recognized ISTE Standards, which are the premier standards to guide the use of technology for learning. ISTE is updating the standards, beginning with the ISTE Standards for Students (K-12), and they are seeking the input of thousands of educators and other stakeholders during the process. During this highly-interactive forum, attendees can share their perspective on the fundamental question: what do students need to know and be able to do to be successful in the future? Participants will also be able to provide feedback on what’s obsolete and missing in the current set of standards, as well as their insight into what ISTE should consider and include in the next set of standards.

Kathryn Kennedy

Kathryn Kennedy is the Assistant Director of Michigan Virtual University's Michigan Virtual Learning Research Institute. She earned her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction with a concentration in educational technology from the University of Florida. Her research and practice-based interests include educator preparation for technology integration and instructional design in traditional, blended, and online learning environments.

  
Daine Mayse

Diane Mayse is currently the Blended Learning Program Data Manager for the Nexus Academies with Connections Education. In her current role and her recent role as a Research Specialist for Connections Education’s corporate Data Team, she creates formative and summative assessment reports of student performance outcomes for school leaders across public, private, and charter school programs nationwide used in the goal setting, goal monitoring, and the end-of-year goal evaluation process. She also looks at trend and subgroup analyses, comparative analyses of competitor virtual school programs, and comparative analyses across our Connections school programs for Senior Leadership Team members. Prior to her Data and Research work, Diane taught Middle School Science with Connections Academy, and completed a research study looking at how students are using online curriculum resources for learning in the self-directed virtual environment.
