Abstract

Using creative emerging technologies: asynchronous and real-time webinars, electronic surveys, interactive images and audio distribution software, creation of a microsite developed faculty administratively and pedagogically.

Extended Abstract

How do we keep online faculty up-to-date in the ever-changing world of online learning? Through the incorporation of creative, emerging technologies such as asynchronous and real-time webinars, electronic surveys, interactive content and audio distribution software, we created a faculty-focused microsite that develops faculty administratively and pedagogically. Our presentation will focus on the implementation of these tools and their role in cultivating online faculty, moving them from the role of "isolated practitioner" to the role of "engaged instructional designer." Features of this session will include: introduction to emerging technologies that enhance faculty support, showcasing several webinar highlights and modeling of our microsite. A timeline of steps will be explained and templates distributed as participant takeaways.

Lead Presenter

Barbara Monaghan serves as Assistant Chair of Liberal Arts Online for Berkeley College and as a Visiting Professor at DeVry University. She has over 17 years of online and onsite teaching experience. Barbara has also served as a faculty member in the English Department and holds an MS from DeVry University in Educational Technology, and an MA in British and American Literature from New York University. Barbara is Blended Learning-Certified by the Online Learning Consortium. She has presented national workshops at NJEdge, The League for Innovation, USDLA, Bloomfield College, and The Consortium for Critical Reading, Writing and Thinking.
