Extended Abstract

We are truly in the midst of an education revolution. The explosion of education technology and rise of digital natives now entering college is challenging traditional teaching methods. Increasingly, educational institutions are shifting the classroom experience online, yet faculty still face the quintessential challenges associated with online teaching: disengaged students, undifferentiated instruction, unintuitive and canned learning experiences. As a result, many students are left uninspired and without the support needed to complete their courses.

That said, education technology is also transforming the teacher experience and the way content is delivered. While many fear that ed-tech might replace teachers, companies are now leading a more teacher-centric trend in ed tech—building technology that is focused on teacher-generated instruction instead of publisher-generated content—the belief being that the best content, both in the classroom and online, comes from teachers.

Smart Sparrow, an ed-tech company pioneering adaptive and personalized technology, is steering the revolutionary process by enabling faculty to create engaging and adaptive learning experiences and then continuously improve them using learner analytics.
