Abstract

Made up of three K-12 blended learning initiatives- MyBlend (Michigan), Fuse RI (Rhode Island), and IDLA (Idaho)- this panel shares similarities, differences, triumphs, and challenges.

Extended Abstract

This panel is made up of three K-12 blended learning initiatives, including MyBlend (A program based in Michigan, a division of Michigan Virtual University, statewide blended learning consultation initiative at the educator level), Fuse RI (A program based in Rhode Island, a statewide blended implementation initiative at the administrative level), and Idaho Digital Learning Academy (A program based in Idaho, a statewide blended learning initiative at the classroom level). These programs will share their progress, triumphs, challenges, similarities, and differences. They will also share their program evaluation practices as well as the various structures they have in place and the stakeholders involved in running the program.

Lead Presenter

Kathryn Kennedy is a Senior Researcher at the MVU's Michigan Virtual Learning Research Institute. Her team conducts and coordinates research projects in K-12 online and blended learning and hosts webinars, a blog, and a podcast series, three venues that help to disseminate the field’s research. Her practical and research experiences include educator professional development for technology integration and instructional design in traditional, blended, and online learning environments. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Florida (2010) in curriculum and instruction, with a concentration in educational technology. She is co-chair of the SITE Virtual Schooling SIG and co-editor of the Journal of Online Learning Research (AACE).
