Abstract

Explore five free tools to help engage students with their peers, content and instructor.

Extended Abstract

In this demonstration, we'll focus heavily on peer assessment-oriented tools that can be used for engaging in social learning, collaboration, and peer review.

Have a course that is lecture-heavy? How about a tool that allows students to create their own questions about the content, answer each others' questions, and rate/discuss the questions and answers?

Studies have shown that the majority of students appreciate the opportunity to review peer work, and find it informative and interesting to see how other students approach tasks and problems. We'll explore a tool that facilitates social learning through anonymous peer reviews, with a double feedback loop.

For those who are more interested in students co-creating in small groups, we'll explore a few tools that facilitate collaboration, either in person or at a distance, and help students create, communicate, refine, and present information on any topic.
