Jason Rhode, Ph.D. is Director of the Faculty Development and Instructional Design Center at Northern Illinois University. For the past 10 years, Jason has been responsible for developing and offering programs and support for NIU’s 1,200 faculty and staff and 800 graduate teaching assistants on teaching with technology and related topics, in addition to providing leadership on technology-related issues. Reporting to the Office of the Provost, he currently oversees operations of the center and provides leadership on all aspects of faculty development training and support.
As an award-winning online instructor with nearly two decades of experience in the field of online learning and having served as an instructional designer, course developer, and program director, he works closely with various units at NIU on addressing faculty needs related to teaching with technology and online teaching. He also designs and teaches online and blended courses in educational technology and instructional design in the Department of Educational Technology, Research and Assessment at NIU.
